90 POINTS | Ned Goodwin, James Halliday's Wine Companion
The High Trellis is a much loved McLaren Vale Cabernet and this 2018 release follows the form of earlier vintages and it is another serious wine at an affordable price. Dark and broody with classic Cabernet leafy characters, this is a dry and wonderfully savoury wine with real power and presence. Fantastic buying with the Advintage Advantage.
The High Trellis has gorgeous aromas of ripe plum and blackberries, with a gentle dried herbal edge. The palate displays pleasant dark fruit and a black olive core with a hint of milk chocolate too, alongside a generous warm spiciness.
The winery writes "Screams Cabernet. A deep dark presence in the glass. Blackcurrant, cedar, paprika and leafy notes tell the story of classic McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate follows the nose with harmonious blackcurrant, capsicum, and stewed mulberries. The multitude of fine welcoming fine tannins leave you wanting more."
