Flagship Hawkes Bay Syrah of the highest order and a wine that has developed a cult following with collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. It's a lovely example that seamlessly walks the magic line between feminine and masculine Syrah; a refined and quite elegant style that nonetheless packs plenty of underlying power and fruit weight in the glass. 2018 was an excellent vintage in the famed Gimblett Gravels and this important wine will blossom over the coming 15 years - bringing further integration and balance into play. All this wine needs is time.
Nutty oaky aromas with a roasted walnut and smoky wood scents; a core of black currant and blue berry, pepper, clove, vanilla and smoked violet. A hint of balsamic rounds out the bouquet. Dry, loads of texture from abundant acidity and firm youthful tannins securing the backbone of the wine as significant and an example that is very young indeed. The package of flavours and textures are all present - all this wine needs is time.
