Bob Campbell, MW writes "Craggy Range’s flagship wine from a vintage that has been hailed as “once in a lifetime”. Dense but not a heavy wine, lithe rather than blockbuster although certainly not lacking power. Tightly packed flavours. including dark berry, Oriental spices, oak and a suggestion of floral characters are gradually displayed and will continue to be revealed as the wine ages. A truly classic Le Sol." Also 5 Stars M.Cooper who writes "This famous Syrah impresses with its lovely fragrance and finesse. Estate-grown in the Gimblett Gravels of Hawke's Bay, the 2013 vintage (5*) was hand-picked at 23.9 brix and matured for 18 months in French oak barriques (32 per cent new). The colour is bold and purple-flushed; the palate dense but not tough, with concentrated, beautifully ripe plum and black pepper flavours, finely textured, spicy and long. Already approachable, it's a very classy, harmonious red that should reward cellaring to 2020+"
