4.5 STARS 91/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
A blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo from 30+ year old vines in the Campo de Borja region, this has always been such a solid release and the 2016 shows the structure and concentration that defies this modest price point. Coto de Hayas is a brilliant anytime red that comes alive with grilled meats or a savoury deli platter. Highly recommended.
Beautifully fruited and fabulously aromatic, the bouquet shows dark fruit, cedar, black olive and dark mushroom notes, followed by a succulent palate that is plump and fleshy. The wine offers terrific fruit intensity, backed by silky texture and rounded mouthfeel. A gorgeous modern rendition of garnacha and tempranillo blend.
Sam Kim writes "This is charming and immediately appealing on the nose showing sweet raspberry, dark plum, cocoa and mixed spice aromas, followed by a juicy palate that is plump and fleshy. Smooth, lingering and very appealing."
