FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Produced by celebrated winemaker Ant Mackenzie from a small parcel of fine Hawke's Bay Pinot Gris , this is a delightful example of very clean natural winemaking. Plush fruit weight is balanced with a fresh line of subtle acidity but the ripe stonefruit flavours shine throughout. Highly recommended.
This wine was fermented and aged on its skins. No SO2 used. It is unflitered.
This is a natural wine - don't be worried if there is a bit of sediment at the bottom or if it's bit cloudy, that's how it's supposed to be!
Vinted from Hawke's Bay Pinot Gris this is full bodied wine with good palate weight and flavours in the pear and lightly spicy dried stonefruit spectrum.
Sam Kim writes "Wonderfully composed and styled, the wine shows baked pear, potpourri, mixed spice and oatmeal aromas on the nose. It's impressively weighted on the palate offering richly textured mouthfeel and ripe fruit intensity backed by seductive savoury nuances. Firmly structured by fine chalky tannins, finishing superbly long and expansive. Fermented and aged on skins. No SO2 added, and no filtration."
