FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Winemaker Ant Mackenzie sits at the top table of Hawke's Bay winemakers and his partnership with well-known distributor Jeannine McCallum has seen the birth of the exciting Cognoscente range. We love everything about these wines. We love the super cool retro labels. We love the signature Ant Mackenzie generous winemaking. And we love the obvious value for money that this new range offers discerning wine buyers.
This was an obvious favourite for us from this range. It's full-bodied, lush and busting with juicy pear and citrus flavours. A real showstopper, it's going to go down as one of the top pinot gris releases from this vintage.
Pale yellow in colour with flecks of green/ gold. Aromas of pear and citrus with subtle ice cream and vanilla milkshake nuances. Soft acidity with a hint of sweetness. Round and full-bodied with a long finish.
Sam Kim writes "It's delightfully fruited and elegantly fragrant on the nose showing apricot, green pear, floral and subtle spice notes, followed by a nicely rounded palate displaying excellent weight and silky texture. Comforting and highly enjoyable."
