95 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
New from the iconic Church Road in Hawke’s Bay, this syrah was made from a single vineyard and crafted by one winemaker. This wine was made to show off the full potential of site and exemplify what Church Road is all about. A fragrant, supple and full-bodied Syrah exuding dark berry fruit, lifted floral and spice aromas with a powerful palate structure that will reward cellaring.
Cameron Douglas writes "Immediately varietal, pure fruit core, there’s no mistaking the pepper spice, oak and other baking spices. There’s moments of field mushrooms - hangi style - then sweet brown button mushroom, baked berries, plum , fresh raspberry and baked berries. On the palate - flavours reflect the nose, lovely tannins adding a fine texture and lengthening the impact of the fruit. Medium+ acidity and length and a lovely medium+ complexity."
The winery writes "A robust and characterful red with generous, juicy, dark berry fruit, lifted violet floral notes and exotic spice typical of this block."
