92/100 | Cameron Douglas MS
91/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
This is a lovely Rosé expression from one of the greatest French producers. Chapoutier have been making wine since 1808 and remain at the very forefront of Rhone wine production. This sharply priced Pays d'OC Rosé has long been a favourite with Kiwi wine lovers with it's refreshing palate and bright flavours of summer fruits. The 2022 is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault. It's dry but with a juicy mid-palate weight. It comes highly recommended.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "An excellent bouquet with scents of rose and cherry, saffron and fruit spice, lees and a stony mineral quality. As the wine touches the palate flavours from lees then red berry fruit show first followed by stone and mineral, baking spices and roses. The acid line keeps the wine and textures fresh, while some fine tannins and red apple skin flavours bring depth and complexity to the story."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Charming and delicately fragrant, the bouquet shows red cherry, apricot, lemon zest and white floral nuances, leading to a finely expressed palate that's juicy and refreshing. Youthful, light and vibrant with a lengthy mouth-watering finish."
The distributor writes"Balance is the golden rule with the Chapoutier Pays d'Oc Rosé. The musts undergo very little racking, in order to develop the wine's volume, yet maintain its freshness. 100% pressed rosé, its floral on the nose and clean on entry. Ideal for an aperitif, or accompanying a number of summer style dishes."
