GOLD MEDAL | NWWA 21
FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
93 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
This is a lovely Rosé expression from one of the greatest French producers. Chapoutier have been making wine since 1808 and remain at the very forefront of Rhone wine production. This sharply priced Pays d'OC Rosé has long been a favourite with Kiwi wine lovers with it's refreshing palate and bright flavours of summer fruits. The 2020 is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault. It's dry but with a juicy mid-palate weight. It comes highly recommended.
The distributor writes "Balance is the golden rule with the Chapoutier Pays d'Oc Rosé. The musts undergo very little racking, in order to develop the wine's volume, yet maintain its freshness. 100% pressed rosé, its floral on the nose and clean on entry. Ideal for an aperitif, or accompanying a number of summer style dishes."
Sam Kim writes "It's elegant and instantly appealing, showing raspberry, nectarine and white floral aromas, followed by a fabulously juicy palate offering bright fruit intensity backed by vibrant acidity, making it delightfully drinkable."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Lifted, lively, refreshing, fruity and enticing bouquet. Roses and peach, red apple, cherry and red currant. Luscious, fresh, vibrant, fruity and dry. The youthful tension from acidity and fine fruit tannins add texture and combined with a core of light red berry fruit flavours, present a fine mouthfeel and lengthly balanced finish."
