FIVE STARS 95 POINTS | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Butterworth Estate (formerly Julicher) is now owned by renowned sailor Brad Butterworth and his love of the sport has made its way through to their wines. The logo is a J-Knot - the strongest knot you can tie - and it's also a nod to Julicher and the history of the winery. We're not the only ones who are big fans of this range, the Butterworth wines were the toast of Auckland during the Americas Cup earlier this year and the new releases have been receiving rave reviews.
It's no secret that we love riesling here at Advintage HQ and when we tried this latest release, there was no doubt that we were making a spot for it on the shelf. Initial fruit sweetness makes way for crisp lime and grapefruit notes, leading to a bone dry finish. Concentrated and complex, this is an excellent rendition of dry riesling. Very highly recommended.
Sam Kim writes "A stunning rendition of the variety; the elegantly lifted bouquet shows Gala apple, apricot, lime sorbet and white floral aromas, leading to an impressively concentrated palate that's brilliantly focused and lingering. The wine offers splendid fruit purity backed by lacy texture and vibrant acidity, finishing persistent and mouth-watering."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Immediate recognisable bouquet of fresh green apple and white blossom, lime-flower and mandarin peel. Fragrant and enticing. on the palate - crisp, fruity, refreshing and dry. The acidity not only adds crispness and palate appeal, but carries the flavours of apple and citrus through the palate with precision and style. Dry and lengthy finish. Well made, young and primary."
