18 POINTS | Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Brookfields are one of Hawke's Bay's oldest boutique wineries and owner and winemaker Peter Robertson has a reputation for generous, flavour-packed wines. This sauvignon blanc from their Ohiti Road block is fresh and light with notes of passionfruit and melon. It's vinted in a dry style but carries less acidity than traditional Kiwi Sauv. Another great release from this trusted set of hands.
The winery writes Fresh and fragrant, the 2021 Ohiti Estate Sauvignon Blanc has generous ripe gooseberry, passion fruit, a hint of lime and capsicum. The cool fermentation temperature and specially selected yeast strain have added to the intensity of this wine. It is the perfect match for fish or just enjoy as an aperitif."
Candice Chow writes "Bright, pale yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is delicate and coy, softly penetrating aromas of stonefruit, cassis with a hint of floral. Medium-light bodied, aromas of cassis, guava melded with grapefruit and peels, adorned by elderflower & citrus florals. The smooth-flowing wine carries balanced tart fruit across the palate and lends a citrusy, refreshing finish."
