Legendary English cricketer, Lord Ian Botham has long had a passion for wine and, alongside a few friends, he's created his very own range of wines. The Botham series celebrates exceptional winegrowing regions in Australia and New Zealand and each wine is named after a significant year in his career.
The 78 Series Central Otago Pinot Noir celebrates Lord Botham's first overseas tour playing in New Zealand for England where he scored his first test century. He travelled to NZ to carefully select parcels of fruit from throughout Central Otago and worked closely with local winemaking teams. It's a graceful, classy pinot with lush fruit flavours, subtle oak complexity and silky tannins. Limited edition.
The winery writes "A wonderfully luscious combination of cherry and dark stone fruit flavours are in abundance on the palate. The subtle oak undertones add a creaminess to the texture and a succulence to the overall mouthfeel. This, combined with a long finish, make this a wine to savour now or keep for up to 8 years from vintage."
