FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92 POINTS | James Suckling
Black Stallion are a family-owned winery in Napa Valley, California where they have been producing premium wines for nearly 100 years. Fruit from two different growing regions was used to create this 2019 chardonnay release which is beautifully balanced and melds bright, fresh acidity with soft vanilla notes from time in French oak. The palate is plush and full-bodied with notes of citrus and toasty stonefruit. A powerful wine.
Sam Kim writes "Powerfully rich and gracefully seductive at the same time, offering golden peach, French vanilla, cedary oak and butterscotch characters on the nose, leading to a sumptuous palate that's impressively weighted and lingering. It's wonderfully creamy and flavoursome with plush texture, making it immensely satisfying."
James Suckling writes "White peach, sliced apple, custard and hints of spice on the nose. It’s full-bodied with crisp acidity and concentrated layers of ripe stone fruit, cream and praline. Drink or hold."
