TROPHY (BEST IN CLASS) | Royal Easter Show
GOLD MEDAL | Royal Easter Show
92/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS
91/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Good quality, straight cabernet franc is really hard to come by as lots of winemakers will blend it away however Beach House have bucked this trend and we're loving the result. Chris Harrison only produces cabernet franc in excellent vintages and that's clearly paid off for him here. The wine itself has a healthy dose of tannic grip and plenty of dark sweet fruit flavours but it's well-balanced and is a stunning example of Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Franc.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Ripe, fruity, varietal and youthful bouquet of dark red berries and olives, greywacke stones and dusty road scents. There’s a layer of toasty barrel with clove spice suggestions and moments of cassis and violet, blackcurrant and plum. On the palate - youthful, textured, fruity and dry. Flavours mirror the nose with dark berries and stony minerality, toasty oak and spices. Firm tannins and medium+ acidity."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Beautifully ripe and perfumed, the bouquet shows sweet cherry, mulberry, floral, hazelnut and warm spice aromas, followed by a delightfully flavoursome palate offering succulent flavours backed by polished tannins. Harmonious and varietally expressive."
The winery writes "Cabernet Franc is our favourite variety from Beach House Wines Gimblett Gravels vineyard. Focused and fruitful with fragrant violets, chocolate, dark forest berries and spice. It has fine lasting tannins that always deliver."
