This is an innovative collaboration between two winemaking greats. Peter Barry (of Jim Barry wines) and Ernst Loosen (of the famous Dr Loosen) are longtime friends and have combined their skills and expertise create this Australian Riesling.
Premium Clare Valley fruit from the Barry Lodge Hill vineyard was harvested and then transferred to a German fuder cask after crushing. It then spent 12 months on lees before extended tank ageing. The result is a lush, textural riesling with characters in the citrus and tropical fruit spectrum. There is a lovely line of minerality and perfectly handled acidity.
A truly stunning wine that will cellar for 20+ years.
The winery writes "The second it is in the mouth it has a silk like softness in its acid, the fruit weight starts early and drives deep through the palate. A richness to the fruit, starting with yellow melons exotic fruits moving through citrus brown lime and mineral/ wet slate. Laced with tension and softness."
