FIVE STARS 95/100 | BOB CAMPBELL MW
Long considered one of New Zealand's finest wine producers, Astrolabe has developed a reputation most of the other premium Sauvignon players would give their right arm for. As expected, the 2018 vintage is yet another beauty. This wine is simply as good as Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc gets. Ethereal. Balanced. Simply divine. Vegetarian and Vegan friendly.
On the nose this Sauvignon is alive with lemon grass, lime peel and elderflower, with background notes of white currant and red pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with white peach, gooseberry and citrus flavours, and a dry mineral finish.
Michael Cooper writes "This skilfully crafted regional blend is a fully dry style. A very harmonious wine, it is fresh and weighty, with lees-ageing notes adding complexity and strong, vibrant, tropical-fruit and herbaceous flavours."
